On 08/29/10, Peter Kadzielawski of Mt Prospect completed Ford Ironman Louisville, (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26.2 mile run). In the process, he raised approximately $5,400 for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and qualified for a additional $750 contribution to his charity from Janus.
Kadzielawski raised money as a participant in the Janus Charity Challenge, an innovative program designed and sponsored by the investment management firm, Janus. The program helps motivate Ironman athletes to use their race experience to raise money for charity. But unlike most other race fundraising programs, there is no pre-determined beneficiary. Janus Charity Challenge athletes have the flexibility to choose the nonprofit organization(s) that they care most about. Since the program’s inception in 2001, triathletes have raised over $42 million for hundreds of charities throughout the United States. Janus also makes additional contributions to the beneficiaries of the top fundraisers at each of the full distance U.S. Ironman races.
Peter has been training a 15 year old boy who has Cystic Fibrosis. “I have noticed a big improvement in his strength, but I wanted to help Brian in a way other then just pushing him through a workout. A stronger body will help fight CF, but a cure is yet to be discovered. This is why I decided to get involved with the Janus Charity Challenge” said Kadzielawski.
